Manual Labor points
Dave and I have been doing demolition on one of our jobs for the last two days. It is very physical work. ( Before I get comments about how watching other people doing work doesn't count, we are actually doing the work. Sadly we do not have enough work to hire other poor slobs to do it.) Do I get points for strength conditioning for this time? If I did it would be worth about 30 points by itself. I could use the points since my team is slacking (having babies is really no excuse for missing your cardio Amy) and to try and close the gap on the Maxwell's who are either using a different very liberal point system than we are using, or they eat 8 servings of fruits and vegtables and excersise at least three hours each day. Please give me a ruling on this.

As one of the founding mothers (and your mother), I just want to say you can count only so many cardio and strength points per day and you get to make the decision about your points. We both know that it's the pop and fruits and veggies that are killing your point totals.(pop is killing mine too) Did you all see Shar's points? She is kicking all our .... I personally am very happy about the Maxwell dedication and hard work, since I am on their team and probably the low point producer. I am proud of your hard work too!
I'm sure manual labor can count as strength and conditioning. However there is a limitation of 1 point for 20 min. per day. The cardio workouts are the points computed weekly. (Up to 7 hours cardio done in at least 1/2 hour increments.) It's the honor system you can determine if it was a cardio workout. I'm so out of shape that it doesn't take much movement to maintain my heart rate in the cardio range. Those Maxwells are killing all of us.
Mike, Chad concurs. As a self-proclaimed "man of steel" or "ironman"....(he has used both terms intermittently since we reached our 30's), he thinks he gets a pretty good workout sometimes just building. I don't know... I mean, what do you think, ladies? I lug around a 22 lb man cub all day whilst lunging and doing my daily tasks. I also push a heavy (at least 100 lbs, sometimes more if I have all 3 youngsters in it) cart at Costco for an hour. Do you think I could start counting this as toning or weights? Hmmmm..... I think I just discovered hidden points potential:)
I think it's all about what is hard for you, if it feels like a work out and you don't feel like you are just padding points, then count it. For example, I counted one cardio point for the day after I had Jane and I had to walk myself back and forth from the NICU several times, which given the fact that I had just had surgery felt like a major work out.
Shelley, it depends on if you go to Costco on Tuesdays and if Sabrina is one of the kids you're pushing in the cart. I really don't think she's 20 lbs. yet, so really, does she count? Although Carter probably makes up for her and then some. Totally kidding. Does this mean that I only get 1 point even when I do 40 min. of yoga? I despise yoga. There should be a "way to go...you exercised even though you HATE it" bonus point for activities you hate (in my case YOGA). Really, Paul gets points for playing basketball? He enjoys it. It's not a real contest until we have to do things we hate to get points. My team should be happy I try anything in my condition.
I am proud of you, I sure as heck didn't work out while I was pregnant with the Fush, mind you I am paying it for it now. Yoga stinks while you are doing it but I always feel taller after.
Here's to feeling taller!!!
Shar, on the rule sheet I have there is no limitation of one point per day for toning/strengthening. We have certainly not been limiting ourselves to one per day! For example, if I go to a 1-hour Pilates or Yoga class I have been giving myself 3 points. If I lift weights for 40 minutes, I give myself 2 points.
